How do you PAT test equipment with an electronic on/off switch?

All PAT testing should be carried out with the appliance in the on position although it is very common that you will come across appliances without a physical on/off switch (eg, a PC with an electronic start button). In this instance the tests carried out will only be testing the cable itself. It is therefor recommended that either the PE Conductor Current Test (if Class I) or Touch Current Test (if Class II) is carried out to fully test the item while running.
